On Saturday August 10, 2013, Ocean Gate will be celebrating its 95th birthday. The Ocean Gate Volunteer Fire Company also celebrates its 100th year. Day long activities are scheduled.
In conjunction with Applebee's of Toms River, Lacey, Manchester, and Brick there will be a " Kickoff" fundraiser flap jack breakfast (at all 4 locations ). 100% of the profits will go to Hometown Heroes who have been instrumental in distributing Robin Hood Foundation money to Super Storm Sandy victims. The breakfast is from 8am-10am. Cost is $10 per person. For tickets/donations / or further information contact : Mayor Paul J Kennedy at ogmayor@verizon.net or 732-269-3166 extension 28.
There will be crafters , vendors , food , and music from 9am-4pm at the Wildwood Avenue beach area.
The Ocean Gate First Aid Squad will be sponsoring the 1st annual Cardboard boat race. This will take place at the end of the Wildwood Avenue pier.
Music on the Wildwood Avenue beach from 7-10:30pm. Featuring the band " Bums in the Park".
To end the day there will be a fireworks display from the end of Wildwood Avenue pier. This will take place approx around 9pm. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the fireworks show can contact Mayor Paul J Kennedy at ogmayor@verizon.net or 732-269-3166 extension 28.
No tax payer dollars will be used to support the fireworks show.
